MEET: INFLUENCE COLLECTIVE
Ireland has seen many techno collectives arise over the recent year and this next group of talents are ones to watch. Their ambition to create diversity in the Dublin club scene is proving to be successful, taking inspiration from the European market and creating an energetic and unforgettable atmosphere.
Meet Influence Collective.
Tell us all about Influence and the crew behind it! Where did the idea derive from?
Influence was founded back in 2018 by Nathan (NAT TYPE) & his dad Ray. The idea came from Nathan wanting to run parties for his friends to go to and feel apart of the running of the night! They ran their first influence night in November 2018 in 39/40 better known today as Index/Here & Now, bringing Boxia to headline the show. During the pandemic we went through a rebrand of the collective, with a passion for hard fast paced techno our vision was to rebrand and showcase our passion through our club nights. Fast forward to today the collectives current group (Nathan, Jack, Graham, Mark, Jason) aims to bring the European rave feel from countries like Germany, The Netherlands and the UK to the Irish scene but mainly in Dublin!
There’s quite a few techno collectives in Dublin at the moment. How do you set out to differentiate yourself from others to remain unique?
Presently, There are many techno collectives within Dublin but our goal for Influence is to create a unique environment comparable to the likes of the club scene throughout central Europe. Unfortunately club nights like these are undesirable to most venues due to the lower bar sales & unpredictable ticket sale, this has fostered a lack of trust between venues & techno promoters in Ireland. We feel the model for nightlife in Dublin is outdated, week in, week out, the same format is followed. Headline Artists, Local support until 1:30am. This has resulted in partygoers not showing up to events until midnight or after in most cases, Which creates a weird environment and almost cuts the whole experience to a 90 minute performance before you must get to the cloak room and head home.
Collectively as a group we took a step back, reviewed the current restrictive format of techno nights in Dublin and began to add our own twists to combat the issues mentioned above. This process went on for sometime and eventually allowed us to create our widely known 'Double Headline' series which has been a major factor to our current success. Our focus with these types of events is about creating an all night long experience for partygoers from opening to closing. We feel like we have been able to strike a balance between adopting the European feel to our events while also staying true to our Irish roots & supporting local talent. It is extremely difficult to achieve all of this while operating within the most restrictive opening times seen in across Europe but hopefully that will change soon with the introduction of the 6am closing times.
How important is venue choice for you? The atmosphere at your events is quite intimate?
Due to lack of purpose built club venues in Dublin, its extremely difficult to deliver the levels of production required to achieve an immersive European club night. Venues in Dublin have always been developed to accommodate traditional live events which means it is our responsibility as promotors to use the venues at our disposal to bring about these more immersive club nights. Lighting and decoration are two elements that we as promotors have the ability to influence and from the praise received from both venue organisers as well as party goers from our last four consecutive sell outs, it makes one hell of a difference!
Your next event takes place in Wigwam this weekend with LESSSS. What should we expect from the night? We’re ready to go!
Everyone should expect a night full of fast paced heavy hitters to make you dance your legs off! This is not to be missed !

Tell us about your ‘Under The Influence’ guest mix feature? When are we expecting the next release?
Our guest mix series 'Under The Influence' aims to showcase various talents both Irish & International ranging in skillsets. There are many great DJ's and we are proud to have a series to platform this talent. Our series was recently revived with a mix from the extremely talented Estonian artist Lene Ma Rue but there is much more to come!
We released our 10th Edition of our ‘Under The Influence’ guest mix series today, showcasing the talents of 17 year old Dutch native ‘JO3Y3T’ coming in hard with a 155-160 BPM hard mix.
If you had the opportunity to create the perfect line up with three acts, who would they be?
That is a difficult question, we do take inspiration from various notable collectives/promotors such as Teletech, Unreal, PRTY, Verknipt, Blackworks and Intercell so there are many different possibilities. But if we had to chose the perfect line up it would consist of :
Nico Moreno
999999999
OGUZ
Honourable mentions to three of our favourite artists who are absolutely smashing the scene up from their productions to their performances: AZYR, BLK, & LUCIID <3
What’s next for Influence? Have you got any goals for the remainder of the year ahead?
What’s next for Influence? Bringing many more hard techno nights to Dublin and possibly abroad! We have some major events in the works that will blow people away! Also a very exciting announcement coming soon for a well established festival in Ireland.
In December 2022 we decided this was the year which we would give Influence the chance it deserves, to make it the year of Influence. We are three months into this year and we are already blown away by the support we have been receiving in relation to our events & our label (which hasn’t even been officially release yet). We aren't stopping here, we can assure all of our followers that we are just getting started & there is so much more on the way which is going to totally bring Influence to the next level. We can't wait to show you!
