New Waves 1908
With a resurge of interest in trance, mostly inspired by the success of DJ Heartstring’s recent Eurodance run and old school classics resurfacing, we are beginning to see a shift into more melodic synths, while it maintains underlying techno drums and bass lines, from soft dance to heavy industrial.
In our August ‘New Waves’ feature, we focus on the return of this timeless era and how it has influenced today’s generation.
OISIN ENRIGHT - BROKEN LOVE
We have this first tune on repeat right now - ‘Broken Love’, produced by Limerick’s Oisin Enright is gathering serious momentum as we predict this to be the hit of summer 2023. Opening with the dial of a phone and bleeping into a range of uptempo piano synths and soft techno drums, the new track has us reminiscing on classics such as ‘Feel So Real’ by Dream Frequency, or K Klass’s legendary ‘Let Me Show You’, but not forgetting what decade we’re living in!
NOLSEY - SUMMER SCRUNCH
Over in the North West, upcoming producer Nolsey gives us all the summer feels with this ambient trance track ‘Summer Scrunch’. Currently on his come up journey, this Sligo resident has dipped into Jungle, Techno for his previous tracks as he experiments with his sound. Vocally reminding us of Dublin classics such as ‘Ragamuffin’, the reggae style lyrics give for a tropical mood. Tell us what you think in the comments below.
KETTAMA - FALLEN ANGEL
Galway’s very own Kettama, AKA, Evan Campbell has been storming stages over recent years and continues to reign supreme when it comes to Irish producers and DJs. His trance influence has shown in his recent release ‘Fallen Angel’ with a classic loop system of heartfelt synths and emotional vocals as he creates a true trance summer hit for years to come.
JOSH DOREY - FIND ME
Across seas, 21-year-old producer Josh Dorey, takes us on a drum and bass ride with his new track ‘Find Me’. Calming, sunset sounds, under management of Little Empire Music, Josh’s career ahead is looking bright as he has already released a roster of hits including ‘Feed Your Soul’ and his other new release this week ‘Want Your Love’. Make sure to add these to your season’s rotation.
JOSHUA BOLGER - PUFF PUFF PASS
Not only are we enjoying the punchy stabs and kicks from this next track, but Joshua Bolger has sampled one of our favourite phrases from the classic movie ‘Friday’ featuring Chris Rock, and it’s all we need to get our weekend started. The Arklow producer incorporates techno kicks with trance hits and groove melodies for a summer certifier.
PEARCE - HEARTACHE (EXTENDED MIX)
Belfast’s Pearce has released his latest uptempo fast trance track ‘Heartache’ which fuses trance, groove, dance, and electronic to make for a contemporary sound. With TikTok trending a variety of ‘sped up’ sounds, we’ve no doubt this track is about to climb with nearly 14k streams already in just the past 3 weeks, since its debut.
TIERNAN HUGHES - ORGAN HOTLINE
Irish born, but based in Liverpool, Tiernan Hughes delivers another track for our end of summer playlist. After his previous trance edits hit high numbers, such as his remix of Shakira’s ‘She Wolf’ and Ariana Grande’s ‘Breathin’, his new original release ‘Organ Hotline’ is another one to add to the queue. This guy is one to watch for sure!
G3Ø & T3CHY - NANANA X GYPSY WOMAN (T3CHY EDIT)
Glasgow duo, G3Ø & T3CHY, have been making waves for quite sometime with their hard kicking industrial releases such as ‘I Am The Danger’ and their edit of classic hit ‘Lover’s Parade’. Clearly influenced by the trance genre, their next edit keeps up to speed as they remix Crystal Water’s ‘Gypsy Women’ and put their own spin on it as expected.
VESELI - FXCK OFF
A heavy hitter, this next track comes from one of Ireland’s most exciting producers right now, Veseli. Based in Cavan, Veseli has honed in on his craft over recent years with his home setup, putting in the graft, and we can hear the results in this new sound. Released under The Yeodel Rave only two weeks ago, the industrial acid track is sharp shooting, and has already clocked up over 5k streams. Press play or f*ck off.
PETER COLLET - LOVE DRUGGIE
Last up in this month’s selection has been out some time now. Peter Collet from Athlone in Westmeath gives us exactly what we want to hear as he mixes this calm but vibrant trance techno track ‘Love Druggie’. A fresh sound which we look forward to hearing more of in the near future.
