Heart of the Emerald Isle: Robyn Lynch AW23

Always remaining at the heart of Robyn Lynch’s collections, her home of Ireland has a heavy influence on her designs and the creative direction of her brand. This past weekend at London Fashion Week, the Dublin born designer represented the emerald isle with a blend of symbolic knitwear and a range of technical fabrics, across a heritage green palette.

Base colours of black, off-white and navy broke up shades of pale pistachio, deep sage, and lizard green, on a journey to explore ‘dialogue’ and reimagine the stereotypical ‘Irish’ identity. The country’s map and memorable shamrock token make fun features filled with sheep smileys, as the classic harp is knitted into a slim fitted rib texture jumper.

The collection focuses mostly on natural fibre, Merino wool, which provides insulation for the colder months, and is balanced out with light weight. "It's much more complex than all synthetic and most natural fibres, which provides Merino wool with a unique set of benefits that's unmatched. The fabric absorbs UV radiation and is both 100% biodegradable and renewable, as well as naturally resistant to fire due to its high moisture and nitrogen context. It's thermoregulatory and its fibres can transfer large quantities of moisture vapour from the body. this means that the microclimate next to the skin stays dry, which really came into play when designing the pieces." Says Robyn.

Complete with a selection of statement accessories, the collection finds the perfect balance between creative and commercial, and between sustainable and functionality.
