id001: ROWDIBOI
If youβve been lucky enough to experience one of his hectic sets, youβll know first hand just how he likes to turn a crowd up. Taking the music industry by storm with his bass heavy tracks, this producer is a force to be reckoned with. Up first in our iD profile series, Rowdi Boi.
How did you begin to DJ? Was it something you always wanted to do? You seem to have a lot of passion for it.
I started when I was in school because I saw someone I knew was playing in Hangar and I set myself a goal to play in Hangar within a year. Unfortunately it got demolished before I got the chance to do it myself!
How would you describe your own style of music?
My own style of music has been categorised by others as eclectic hardcore, which I would say is a pretty accurate description. - Essentially anything heavy gets me going.
What equipment do you use when youβre producing tracks? What would be your favourite gadget?
Ableton push 2, Roland TR8S and a Behringer Tb-03 are all in the arsenal and Iβd say the Behringer would be my favourite as I love making them crispy acid lines.
Tell us about your event company Thump Techno? How did this form?
Thump started in 2019 after a night in Index, myself and Decadance decided that we wanted to start our own party so eventually we started throwing free parties in Bow Lane which then led to us booking international such as Parfait, Nico Moreno, ShlΓΈmo, JKS and now CLTX (We only book French DJs apparently!).
Whatβs your favourite Rowdi Boi track? What gets the crowd most hyped?
My fav Rowdiboi track would have to be my unreleased βo fortunaβ which Iβve been playing at the end of all my headline shows and it never fails to send people fucking nuts.
What advice would you give to new DJs trying to break into rotation?
Advice to new DJs: go on nights out to places where you enjoy the music the most, even if itβs by yourself, youβll meet people and have loads of fun, you never know when you could be meeting someone whoβll end up giving you a gig some day
Whatβs coming up for Rowdi? Have we got new music on the way?
Always lots of music on the way, few edits to be released and an EP coming out on one of my fav labels early December.
