Scents of the Future
When it comes to sustainability, we tend to focus on fashion production and consumerism. What we may have overlooked is the potential to increase sustainability and consciousness within the parfum industry? Brands such as Diesel, Armani, and YSL have all taken this into consideration with their most recent releases, throughout gender fluid smells, refill bottles, and reduced and recycled packaging.
D by Diesel, Diesel’s first Gender Fluid Fragrance & first fragrance overseen by Creative Director Glenn Martens, bottle is made from 25 percent post-consumer recycled, clear glass. For the first time, all formats of the bottle are refillable and the outer box, featuring a striking bright red D against a white background and the iconic Diesel red logo, is made from 55 percent post-consumer recycled cardboard.
The eau de toilette contains two sustainably sourced ingredients: Bourbon vanilla infusion from Madagascar, and Diva lavender heart from Provence. Both ingredients are crafted for Diesel. D adapts and evolves with your skin.
In sync with Giorgio Armani’s ongoing commitments to sustainability, ARMANI CODE PARFUM has also been created with the planet’s future in mind and renews the codes of luxury consumption. The scent’s bottle is eco-conceived and refillable. To serve the brand’s goal of tackling climate change, Giorgio Armani favours using natural origin, sustainably sourced ingredients, and commits to preserving critical forests.
The new fragrance takes the woody, aromatic essence of the iconic ARMANI CODE scent, and infuses it with a sensitive facet, thanks to its combination of Iris notes. This blend conjures an amplified sense of movement, capturing the essence of a man perpetually in motion.
With fragrance itself - We are yet to see an influx of natural sprays that are non-toxic and feel good for your skin. There are however several brands that have already accomplished this formula for the future.
Due to the scarcity of exotic ingredients, Fueguia 1833 produces only limited series of fragrances – 400 bottles per batch, using the finest natural ingredients available at the time of production. Given the vegetable origin of the ingredients used in the formulation, and the aromatic variations that they present between crops, each edition is one of a kind.
The below scent ‘Alma’ is a perfume inspired by youth, raw beauty and the joy of a young summer. Expressing solar and mineral notes, which represents the energy of the place.
With its woody, amber-infused accords, Santal is inviting and versatile, resisting easy categorisation as either a day or night scent. The comforting intensity of sandalwood is blended with leathery papyrus and cardamom, which delivers a spicy, resinous dimension.
This incredible brand is certified cruelty free and available at Brown Thomas.
These are just some brands that have made conscious efforts to move to a more sustainable fragrance offering. We hope that this evolution continues to grow and better get shopping for Christmas!
